Today I woke up as a 25-year-old!! Boy oh boy how time flies..
Here are 25 lessons I have learned along the way that have helped me get where I am today:
1. Pray. Pray. Pray.
2. DON’T WISH YOUR LIFE AWAY. Enjoy the moment and phase of life you’re in. There’s a good chance you’ll look back and miss these “good ole days”.
3. Listen to your parents. They’re usually always right..
4. Enjoy the moment, but always sneak some pictures and videos!! You never know when you’ll wish you could look back on the memories.
5. Make time for family. Friends and boyfriends will come and go, but you will always have your family.
6. Focus on your core group of friends. In high school and college, it’s easy to have “25 besties”, but really focus on those 4 or 5 deep, lifelong friendships.
7. Go to church, join a Bible study or small group.
8. Be a good listener, an active listener. This requires you to fully concentrate, understand, respond and then remember what is being said.
9. Be intentional.
10. Everyone deserves a second chance.
11. Don’t hold grudges. Forgive and forget.
12. BE THERE. Be present.
13. Never stop learning. Be a life-long learner.
14. Don’t be a people pleaser. I am still working on this one..
15. There’s never a “perfect” time for anything. If you’re waiting for the “perfect time”, it’ll never happen.
16. Along with this.. You’ll never have “enough money”. Be content in where you are. BUDGET and don’t spend money you don’t have.
17. Sometimes you just need to let it out and cry. That’s okay!
18. Don’t work your life away. Make sure to always have work-life balance. Let go of perfectionism and unplug often (I need to do better at this).
19. Exercise. You’ll feel better.
21. Learn and grow from your mistakes instead of dwelling on them.
22. Don’t settle for a jerk. A good man is worth the wait.
23. Be generous.
24. Be organized and make to-do lists. There’s just something about crossing off things on a list that’s good for the soul (yes.. I am Type A).
25. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. You never know what could come of it! Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Thank you ALL for the birthday wishes!!
XOXO,
Laura Elizabeth
