I cannot believe the 2020 Graham family vacation has come to an end! We had such a fun week together hiking, fishing, board gaming, laughing and adventuring! I thought you guys might enjoy a little Colorado family vacation recap. 🙂
Where did you stay?
We stayed in Breckenridge, CO and Mr. Graham rented through Paragon Lodging. Last year we stayed in Steamboat Springs, but I think we enjoyed Breckenridge even more! He reserved a house plenty big enough for all 11 of us! I am #blessed to have been able to be married into his big, welcoming family! We had Luke’s parents, his 6 siblings, two wives (me included!) and my little nephew, Noah.
Due to the coronavirus.. how were things? (Written in July 2020)
We pretty much only did outdoor activities or hung out in the house! The house had a hot tub everyone loved and this family is the biggest board game family I’ve ever met! The outdoor activities including hiking, fishing, white water rafting (I sat this one out!), were pretty much unaffected by the virus. Colorado does have a mask law currently, so everywhere we went, we wore a mask (besides fishing, hiking, playing outside, etc.).
We weren’t able to spend as much time in the town as we would have liked because we wanted to socially distance ourselves of course! The town was SO DANG CUTE and I definitely want to come back to enjoy it!! As of July 2020, everything was open with limited capacity and masks required.
Were you nervous to fly during the pandemic? What safety precautions did you take?
I was nervous to fly during this time for sure, but the trip was approved by my doctor and I knew if she said it was okay, it was.. especially since she didn’t approve my two bachelorette party trips I have planned later this month! Flying was the only aspect of this trip my doctor was worried about. She just told me to be super cautious, socially distance myself as much as possible, wear a mask at ALL time in the plane and airport and to keep my own hand sanitizer with me. She also wanted us to completely wipe down our areas of the plane. Southwest was awesome and you could tell the plane was thoroughly cleaned. They also did not sell any middle seats, so we were able to socially distances ourselves from other more than if they sold every seat in the plane.
Which hikes did you go on?
I will list the hikes we did below with photos, but I would suggest reading the All Trails description of the hike! It will tell you what difficulty level the hike is, the length and even share photos and review.
– Spruce Creek Loop
– Blue Lakes Monte Cristo Gulch
– Boreas Pass Loop
– The B&B Trail
– Baker’s Tank
The boys did TONS of fishing! They got up most mornings around 5:30am to go fishing so they’d be back home by breakfast. One day, they went on a longer fishing trip in Silverthorne and we met them over there for lunch! Silverthorne was a super cute little town too!
We played lots and lots of games including the board game Azul (found here on Amazon) and a fun game called “Fish Bowl.”
How do you play Fish Bowl?
This game is so much fun for large groups! It gets everyone involved! I googled it and found instructions here!
XOXO,
Laura Elizabeth
