How We Got Pregnant Fast with Premom

When you want to get pregnant, you want it to happen fast! I am going to share what worked for us to get pregnant quickly; however, I cannot guarantee it will work the same for you.

My deepest sympathies are with those women striving to become pregnant and may be struggling with infertility. If this relates to you, please know that I am praying for you and your time is coming. It’s all in His hands. It is true, some women have complications that might interfere with fertility regardless of correct tracking. But according to CDC data, “The percent of married women aged 15-44 that are infertile is 6.7%”, which means over 93.3% of women are fertile and can get pregnant naturally. I am no doctor or medical professional here, but I’ve done tons of research on this topic prior to TTC (trying to conceive) and discussed with my doctor – most issues with becoming pregnant have to do with incorrect timing of intercourse.

What We Used to Conceive

Before TTC, I decided to start tracking my ovulation in preparation. The five days leading up to ovulation and ovulation day are the only days that you can get pregnant. You generally have a higher chance of pregnancy the closer you are to ovulation day. I used the Premom app and their ovulation test strips to track my most fertile days.

Why We Chose Premom

Honestly.. I just googled “how to get pregnant fast” and read about ovulation test strips. I then went on Amazon and searched for some. I reviewed TONS and ultimately decided on Premom because of the amazing reviews. There are thousands and thousands of positive reviews on the product. I’ll be adding one more positive review on Amazon because it truly worked for us. So crazy!

I will explain how it all works below and hopefully if you’re TTC, it will help you just like it helped us. 😊 My husband and I got pregnant the first month trying and I couldn’t be more thankful. Truly.. I thank the Lord above that we didn’t have any issues with conceiving. I started the ovulation test strips the month before we started “trying” and “tracking” to get used to them. I was off birth control for several months prior to “trying” and was using the “pull out method” during that time (TMI lol).

How to Use Ovulation Test Strips

When should I start testing? To make sure you won’t miss your LH surge (see definition at the end) see chart below from Premom:

What time of day do you test? Early afternoon between 11am – 4pm.

How do you use the test strips? Dip the white absorbent tip of the test into the urine cup (I used these cups) to the black “MAX” line and keep the tip in urine until the dye rises into the results window.

How do you interpret the results? If a test line is as dark or darker than the control line, it is a positive result.  A positive result doesn’t always, 110% mean you are going to ovulate in 24-48 hours, as many resources have incorrectly stated. Just keep this in mind: the darkest line from consecutive testing in one cycle is the peak time.. AKA time to get it ON 😉

I used the Premom app (available for download here for Apple users and here for Android users) to keep up with my results. See screenshot below –

Definitions

Ovulation – when the ovary releases the egg so that it can be potentially fertilized by a sperm cell.

Ovulation Test – (Ovulation Predictor Kit (or OPK) detects the concentration of luteinizing hormone (LH) in your urine.

LH Surge – Levels of luteinizing hormone (LH) stay low normally, but increase before ovulation. LH will increase to its peak 24-36 hours before ovulation. The process where LH increases from low to peak is called the LH surge. How long the LH surge lasts can vary from woman to woman. During the LH surge, LH can reach its peak in just a few hours, or it can take up to 6 days to reach peak before ovulation.
