One of my most frequently asked questions is how I have grown my hair so quickly and kept it healthy! Trust me.. it’s been a LONG process. When I was a freshman in college at Vanderbilt playing soccer, I decided to dye my hair DARK BROWN! Worst decision EVER. I am such a blonde LOL! I hated it after just a few short weeks and went back to the salon in Nashville and wanted to go back blonde super quick. They ended up “stripping” my hair TWICE in one day.. Which is a HUGE “no no”!
LOL at the quality of these pictures🤣
This was after I colored it dark.
Both of these were in the process of going back blonde. I went through a reddish brown stage for awhile then, to a brassy blonde.
AND FINALLY!!!! This is where I am now! I am completely in love with my color lately! Sydney Gambuzza (@hairby_sydneyeleze, on Instagram) at Salon Visage, here in Knoxville has been doing my hair. If you are a Knoxville girl you HAVE to check out this salon!!
I used these tips below to help my hair get where it is today!
Tips:
- LIMIT heat! This is the best thing you can do for your hair. — try doing one hair style and refreshing it for the next few days.
- Frequently get trims. I typically get mine cut every time I get my hair colored (even if it just a baby trim or a “dusting”)
- If you’re a blonde, go darker in the cooler months or even add a shadow root – this will give your hair a break from the bleach.
- Ask for a treatment or Olaplex while getting your hair done to add that moisture back in. Olaplex will help build back up any broken bonds during the lightening process.
- Switch up your hair products – I currently love Bumble and Bumble, Function of Beauty and It’s a 10.
- ONLY ever use a wet brush!!!!!
- BABY your hair especially when wet. When your hair is wet, it is in the most fragile state so always be extremely careful!
- If possible, let air dry.
- Limit hair washes – I personally only wash my hair twice a week or so. I have heard that it IS possible to train your hair!
- Apply dry shampoo on clean hair so it can start absorbing oils before it is to late!
